Childbirth Education Classes
Out-of-Hospital Childbirth Education ClassesTrusting our Bodies and Trusting Ourselves
River City Birth now offers a three-day, 8 hour childbirth education series tailored toward the needs of local home birthing families. Because our class will focus on home birth and birth center birth, we have more time to address the expected and unexpected in a home birth situation, including :
- Nutrition
- Exercise
- Optimal Fetal Positioning
- Partner roles
- Pain coping
- Beliefs about birth
- Breastfeeding
- Water birth
...and much more!!
Come with your birth partner or come by yourself. This series is not a "method", but a way to gather information and support from peers and educators in the homebirth community. We will not teach you how to birth your baby, but will support your ability to trust in your body and in birth. You will gain valuable information and confidence about birth and out of hospital birth.
Classes will include a comprehensive packet of information and worksheets. Please dress comfortably and bring a notebook and pen.
Classes are taught approximately every three months. The next series is June 2009. Please contact Linsey Kornya for dates, location and to reserve your spot.
Babywearing
Private Babywearing InstructionCarrying a baby in-arms is beneficial for both parents and babies. Carried babies tend to cry and fuss less and carrying facilitates breastfeeding and bonding. Baby carriers help you integrate your little one into your life and keeps your hands free. There are dozens of different baby carrier styles - the choices can be overwhelming. Unfortunately, the best carriers can be a little tricky to use at first.
Let Linsey at River City Birth assist you in choosing and wearing a baby carrier. Linsey will bring to your home a selection of 10 different baby carriers and help you determine which carrier, or carriers, are right for you and your partner. Learn which carriers are appropriate for which stage and purposes. Instruction can include demonstration and assistance with long wraps, ring slings, pouches, Mei Tai's, structured carriers and hybrids.
Linsey will come to your home and assist up to two families until everyone can safely and comfortably use the carrier of their choice.
Fee for instruction is $50.00
